Chronicles of Roika:
Reign of the Unwanted
Anthony's Journal
Night 3
We were told to simply stay inside our designated houses and just wait there ‘til morning. That night, that’s what we all did. We waited. The same thing happened. We could hear them. Although the house was painted with dragon’s blood and I was wearing the necklace, I was bothered. My imagination goes wild. It’s as if it would come true, that they would barge in and try to kill us all. Although troubled, I did my best trying to look and be calm. I didn’t want to look ill at ease and add more pressure to my companions. We just kept quiet. We couldn’t sleep. Though I didn’t think I wanted to anyway. What I do is write on my journal. It doesn’t help me get distracted though since what I write tells things about the vampires. As much as possible I write down each and every thing that has happened. I wanted to kill time by writing. It’s only during the night while waiting for morning to come that I write on my journal. Well, it’s not really a journal, just pieces of paper. Hahaha. This will be like a journal soon though. I want to make this into a personal book so that I may look back unto what we’ve been through during the reign of the vampires. I don’t know if I will live to tell the whole tale though.
It’s painful to think we have weapons yet we’re unable to use them. If only I was stronger. No, if only we were stronger. Yes, there are those who could battle the vampires one on one but only few are strong enough to do so. I hope the leaders will think of something by tomorrow to eliminate the vampires. I’m getting sick of just doing nothing.
-----------------------------------------------------
As usual, another gathering was held. I thought I was the only who got sick of just staying inside the house during the night. I was wrong. Most of us wanted to eliminate the vampires already. The problem is... how? We all knew we can’t beat them with just brute force. After a few hours, the others came and gathered up with us. The billposters, ringmasters, jesters, rangers... everyone. Everyone went to where we were. For some reason, we had a sudden boost of morale. It was if we could win against the vampires. A plan was then made. It was simple. To battle with the vampires... but, with strategy this time.
We were to form parties with different class combinations. For example, a party with two knights, two jesters, one ranger, two ringmasters and a blade. What’s important was we get to have a knight or two in a party, a melee and ranged fighter and a supporter. The role of each party member was significant. Lacking one could mean defeat. Knights are to receive upcoming attacks and have the vampires keep on attacking them. The ranged fighters are to attack the vampires as they are still at a distance. And when a vampire happens to get close to a party, it’s the melee fighters’ job to take care of them. It was everyone’s job to protect the supporters who cast support magic unto them. At least three parties would group together to ensure safety. For once, we felt confident. After we repainted all the houses with dragon’s blood, we waited. We waited. But this time, outside. I was with the party I was joined in. We could see all the other parties scattered around the area. Safety seemed certain.
I was still worried though. I kept thinking about my family. Especially my little sister who’s still five years old. I haven’t quite mentioned anything about my family yet though. I really love my little sister. I’d tell her stories, play with her, comfort her and even let her ride on my back. She just loves to ride on my back. Anyway, she’s with mom. I know she’ll take good care of her. I hope they’ll all be safe.
I usually write only during the night. But since we’re going to battle with the vampires later on, I’m writing on these pieces of papers now as we wait for it to get dark.
