Broken Boundaries - The Visit

Chronicles of Roika:

Broken Boundaries

The Visit

Yes, there should actually be a fourth class – Acrobats. But it was only then when the fourth class was introduced. There was just not enough time to make a new alignment. We were at war. It wasn’t a good time to be training acrobats. We only needed the experienced, the three existing classes. Still, Michael knew acrobats would be needed so he gave all the scrolls about acrobats to one of his most trusted subordinates. On the floating lands, after everything calmed down, training for acrobats started. There were now four alignments. After a few weeks, something terrible again happened, all of the remaining beautiful creatures within our new paradise transformed again into hideous creatures. But luckily, they weren’t as strong and as aggressive as of those from below. We could take them on. We, the humans, along with the other races were still in control. This went of for weeks, then for months, then for years. After many generations, everyone assumed nothing tragic will ever happen again. Monsters may be among with us all, but they mean not much danger. Nothing tragic will ever happen again – WRONG!

Another catastrophe happened. We had an unexpected visit. Horrific human-like beings suddenly showed up one night. No one knew what they were. The reason was because no records were made about the past. For some reason, telling stories about what had happened before became like a taboo. No one knew about what had happened before. No one knew where the unfamiliar beings came from. All they knew was that they had to be eliminated.

The people called the beings, “vampires” for they had characteristics of a vampire. To cut it short, people were tormented by the vampires ever night. Luckily, the people discovered the vampires were weak against dragon’s blood. The vampires hated dragon’s blood. That’s what the people used to be safe against the vampires. Houses were painted with dragon’s blood. Everyone wore a necklace with a bottle containing dragon’s blood. Unfortunately, it soon became useless. New types of vampires came about – winged ones. Everyone had to rely on the project developed by the psychipers’ guild, the “energy shell”. It was a device that would cast out a protective barrier to protect shelters from the vampires.

Although some malfunctioned, people continued to use the energy shell. After all, it was the energy shell or nothing. The people then began training non-stop during the day and just rest during the night. Everyone believed being stronger was the key to get rid of the vampires. Everyone trained hard. Everyone got stronger. Sadly, it still wasn’t enough. The vampires still kept on winning every battle. Yes, at times, the people would go battle with the vampires hoping they would win but no. The vampires were still just too strong. Finally, the people decided to just focus on their training and stop battling the vampires for awhile. They had to. Their numbers greatly diminish after every battle. If they kept on battling with the vampires, it would be the end.
